Sycamore Hill Stables is 98 beautiful acres in West
Tennessee in the northeast corner of Fayette County. We
are between Memphis and Jackson, 5 miles north of
U.S. Highway 64. At present, our 124 x 68 facility
will stable 7
horses, complete with a foaling stable, feed and tack rooms, wash bays,
storage rooms, and a lounge. The deer and turkey are daily visitors
in the pasture also.
Horses have always been a part of our lives in some
form or fashion, whether it was rodeo, trail riding, or
training. We love what we do here at SHS, and are
excited about each day ahead. We know all good things
come from the Lord and we are a family who is very
thankful for all the opportunities He has blessed us
with.
SHS is a family-owned, family-maintained business. If
you'd like to visit our stables, email or call us to set
up a time.

The North American Single-Footing Horse
The
North American Single-Footing Horse takes a unique
place among the horse breeds of the world. The Single-Footing Horse is a light breed of
good conformation, attractive in appearance, smooth
riding and versatile. The ideal gait is a near
evenly timed 4-beat intermediate gait which gives an
exceptionally smooth ride at speeds from a relaxed
trail gait of 7-9 mph, to a road gait of 12-15 mph,
to the breathtaking racing single-foot speed of over
20 mph. At the fastest speeds these horses will be
traveling with one foot on the ground at a time,
thus the name "single-footing".
Other qualities are also important such as
endurance, a tractable willing temperament with a
natural "want to work" attitude, common sense, the
working conformation to hold up to years of service,
maximum smoothness at all speeds, a good range in
gait, and surefootedness.
Single-Footing Horses come in all sizes,
colors and color patterns including many unusual
ones.
